Rihanna and her family are safe. The attempted murder suspect has been apprehended, and no one was injured in the incident at their Los Angeles residence.
This isn't some random fan — Ivanna Ortiz had a documented history of violence against her ex-husband, was flagged as the primary aggressor by police, and had been posting concerning messages about Rihanna for weeks before the shooting.
Ortiz was arrested in June 2023 and charged with domestic battery after allegedly attacking her ex-husband outside her Orlando apartment. She texted him: "You'll be getting socked on the nose tonight" before the assault. In the latest incident, she allegedly fired approximately 10 shots from an AR-15-style rifle at Rihanna's home.
Rihanna's family is safe, but this woman had a pattern of violence that was already documented. The system failed to contain someone who clearly posed a danger — and now we're all just lucky nobody died.
The woman accused of shooting at Rihanna's Los Angeles home isn't some random intruder — she's got a documented history of violence that makes this story even more chilling. Ivanna Ortiz, 35, was arrested Sunday afternoon after allegedly firing approximately 10 shots from an AR-15-style rifle at the residence Rihanna shares with partner A$AP Rocky and their three young children. No one was injured. She was later charged with attempted murder by the Los Angeles Police Department.
But here's what makes this truly disturbing: Page Six exclusively obtained the Orlando Police Department's incident report from June 2023, when Ortiz was already arrested and charged with domestic battery. The attack happened outside her apartment in Orlando, Fla., when her ex-husband came to drop off their daughter — and the text messages she sent beforehand are bone-chilling.
According to the police report, Ortiz texted her ex-husband (referred to as John Doe): "You'll be getting socked on the nose tonight." Minutes later, she wrote: "What's it going to be twin, your calling the shots tonight and I'm throwing punches." When he arrived filming on his cellphone — presumably for documentation — she allegedly called him a slur, which sparked a verbal dispute. As he turned to walk away with their daughter, Ortiz allegedly lunged at him twice, attempting to grab his phone. He pushed her away both times. She fell, got back up, and started throwing punches.
The responding officer observed a scratch on the right side of Doe’s face and noted their daughter was hyperventilating, crying and repeatedly saying she didn't want anyone to go to jail. The officer explicitly wrote: "I find Ivanna Ortiz to be the primary aggressor of the above incident." She was later arrested again in September 2023 for violating pretrial release conditions. In the weeks leading up to the Rihanna shooting, Ortiz had posted several concerning messages about the singer on social media.
This is who was wandering around Los Angeles with an AR-15-style rifle. Rihanna's family is safe, but let's not pretend this was some random tragedy that almost happened — this is a pattern.
