Kid Cudi is framing this as a teachable moment — a father being honest with his teen daughter about difficult real-world situations, guiding her through the chaos of media scrutiny with open communication.
Let's be real: Cudi's daughter Vada didn't just see headlines — she saw her father testify about a man who allegedly broke into his home, threatened him over a relationship with Cassie Ventura, and is now serving time. That's not normal dad stuff.
Cudi testified in May 2024 about Diddy allegedly breaking into his home in 2011 after learning about his relationship with Cassie Ventura. Diddy is now serving a 50-month sentence for two prostitution-related charges. Cudi told Kylie Jenner on his April 1, 2026 Big Bro podcast that he 'had to explain' the situation to his 16-year-old daughter.
Cudi's trying to spin this as wholesome parenting, but let's call it what it is: a father explaining to his teenage daughter why she saw her dad's name linked to a federal sex trafficking trial. That's the kind of conversation that scars you for life.
Kid Cudi is looking back at a complicated chapter, and he's not holding back.
Nearly one year after the "Day 'n' Nite" musician took the stand against Sean "Diddy" Combs in his federal sex trafficking trial, he shared some deeply personal insight into how he navigated the aftermath with his 16-year-old daughter Vada Mescudi. Speaking to Kylie Jenner on the April 1 episode of his Big Bro podcast, Cudi admitted that during the height of the trial coverage, he knew his daughter had seen something online — and there was no way to protect her from it.
"I know that she saw that s--t and I can't protect her from that," the 42-year-old — who shares Vada with ex Jacqueline Munyasya — said. "When something like that happens, it's huge news and everybody's talking about it." So after taking the stand against Combs — who's currently serving a 50-month sentence for convictions on two prostitution-related charges — Cudi decided to sit down with his daughter. "I had to explain. We had a conversation about it," he said, admitting it was difficult to navigate these topics with the teen.
The Grammy winner testified last May about his brief romance with Cassie Ventura, Diddy's on-and-off ex. According to court transcripts viewed by E! News, Cudi alleged that Combs called him while breaking into his home in 2011 after learning about the relationship. "He said, 'What's up?' and I said, 'Motherf--ker, are you in my house?'" Cudi testified. "He said, 'I am here waiting for you.'" When Cudi returned home, he alleged his security cameras had been adjusted, his dog was "locked up in the bathroom" and "gifts were opened up on the counter." Combs has not publicly addressed the alleged break-in.
Cudi and Ventura ultimately broke up in early 2012, with the "Me & U" singer testifying the relationship ended due to Combs' interference. "[There was] too much uncertainty if we continued to see each other," Ventura said during her testimony, per court transcripts. "Sean said he was going to hurt the both of us." With his daughter growing up in the spotlight, Cudi acknowledged that parenting comes with unique challenges. "We're navigating something that only a few people really get a chance to do," he told Jenner. "But it starts with the parents. You raise them, guide them, give them the rules of life, make sure they're not a--holes."
