The Spin

The 'Call My Agent The Movie' is being positioned as a triumphant celebration of French cinema and female empowerment — Andréa Martel's journey from super-agent to filmmaker represents the franchise's evolution, with A-list Hollywood talent like Clooney and Longoria lending credibility. The cast's Cannes red carpet moment underscores their global standing.

The Tea

Sources say getting Clooney on board required serious arm-twisting through his friendship with Mediawan boss Pierre-Antoine Capton — he reportedly passed on the first version of his scene, which was described as 'full-on delusional slapstick,' before working closely with writers to craft something more dignified. The six-hour shoot was reportedly intense for first-time Clooney director Émilie Noblet.

The Receipts

Clooney shot his cameo over exactly six hours on a single day at one location — the exact constraints he set for producers, per creator Fanny Herrero. The film premiered its Cannes shoot on Friday, May 17, 2026, with cast including Camille Cottin, Fanny Sidney, Grégory Montel, Liliane Rovère, Laure Calamy (César winner for 'Antoinette dans les Cévennes,' 2020), Nicolas Maury and Thibault de Montalembert all walking the Croisette red carpet.

The Last Byte

Five years is a long time to wait, but 'Call My Agent!' has earned its Hollywood moment — Clooney's involvement signals the franchise has officially leveled up from beloved French export to genuine international player.

Five years after the fourth and final season of "Call My Agent!" snagged an International Emmy Award, the gang is back on the Croisette — and this time, they've brought George Clooney. Netflix's hotly anticipated feature film adaptation premiered its Cannes shoot Friday, with the full cast walking the red carpet in style at the Palais des Festivals as additional backstage footage for the movie was filmed on location. The film sends Andréa Martel — played by Camille Cottin, now one of France's most bankable exports after working with Michael Mann, Ridley Scott and Phoebe Waller-Bridge — into the south of France to direct her first feature.

According to the synopsis obtained by Celebrity Bytes, Andréa loses her lead actor just days before shooting begins, forcing her to reunite her old team from talent agency A.S.K., which she folded at the end of the series. Mathias (Thibault de Montalembert) has since launched a new talent agency alongside his daughter, while Noémie (Laure Calamy, a César Award winner for "Antoinette dans les Cévennes" in 2020) has transitioned into producing.

The cameo lineup is where things get interesting. Beyond Clooney, Eva Longoria appears as a producer — a deliberate creative choice that mirrors her real-life business savvy. "She’s truly an accomplished businesswoman," series creator Fanny Herrero told Variety at Cannes alongside co-writer Lison Daniel and director Émilie Noblet.

"We like to show that actresses can also eventually become producers, become powerful women." Longoria had previously met with Herrero in Paris about adapting the series for Latin America before the cameo offer came together. French talent including Laurent Lafitte, Vincent Macaigne and Laetitia Casta also appear alongside returning stars Fanny Sidney, Grégory Montel, Liliane Rovère and Nicolas Maury. Getting Clooney, however, required a personal touch — and persistence.

Pierre-Antoine Capton, the boss of production company Mediawan and a close friend of Clooney's, played what Herrero described as a "decisive role" in securing his involvement. But even then, Clooney initially passed on the first draft of his scene. "It was a comedy scene but with more slapstick," Herrero revealed.

He ultimately collaborated closely with the writers on a new version that pairs him with Cottin and Calamy's character Noémie. Director Émilie Noblet admitted she was nervous stepping onto set with an Oscar winner for the first time. "Fanny and I went up to his room, and he said to me, 'Tell me whatever you want; it'll be fine.' And that's exactly how it went," Noblet recalled.

The entire cameo was shot in a single day — six hours, one location, one scene — the precise constraints Clooney had set from the start. The movie expands beyond Paris into new cinematic territory, with production moving to the south of France for on-set chaos that mirrors the franchise's signature behind-the-scenes drama. "It's very rich because it allows us to expand on what we're telling about cinema, about the making of a film," Herrero explained.

"At one point, the shooting of Andréa's film begins, and we head to the south of France, into landscapes that are completely different from their usual Parisian backdrop." The film is produced by Mediawan-owned Mon Voisin Productions and Mother Production with participation from French broadcaster France Télévisions — and if you're wondering whether this is truly goodbye, Herrero left the door wide open. "They're still alive," she joked. "No one's dead, no career has ended.

No one’s in prison. Anything's possible." The franchise already spans international adaptations across the U.K., Spain, Italy, Germany, South Korea, Indonesia, the Middle East, Philippines, Malaysia and Poland — so don't be surprised if Andréa Martel shows up somewhere unexpected again.
