The Spin

Rocky's framing the labor experience as beautiful and intimate — a testament to their connection. He's painting himself as an emotionally present father who's 'all day' devoted to his family, keeping it light and loving despite becoming a dad of three.

The Tea

While Rocky makes it sound like smooth sailing in the delivery room, sources close to the couple have hinted that Rihanna's pregnancies weren't without tension. And let's be real — behind every 'we were cracking jokes' birth story is probably a very different private reality nobody's sharing.

The Receipts

Riot was born August 2023; Rocki Irish Mayers arrived September 2025. In March, someone fired more than 10 shots from an AR-15-like rifle at their Los Angeles home while the family was inside. Suspect Ivanna Ortiz faces 13 total charges and could get life in prison if convicted.

The Last Byte

Rocky's playing the doting dad card hard on this VIBE cover, but you can't gloss over a shooter opening fire on your family with three kids in the house — that's trauma that doesn't disappear just because you're laughing during labor. The contrast between these two revelations tells us everything about how carefully curated celebrity narratives really are.

A$AP Rocky is serving up the picture-perfect fatherhood fantasy on VIBE's return to print media, but dig a little deeper into his June 2 cover interview and you'll find something far more unsettling lurking beneath the wholesome labor stories. The Harlem-born rapper sat down with the magazine to discuss everything from welcoming baby RZA in May 2022 to the births of their subsequent children, Riot and Rocki — painting a portrait of domestic bliss that feels almost too polished given what happened at their Los Angeles residence just months ago.

Rocky described the delivery room experience as anything but tense, revealing that he and Rihanna were essentially having a laugh riot while she was in active labor. 'We were laughing while she was in labor, literally laughing and cracking jokes and s–t,' he shared with VIBE. The rapper explained that their second and third trips to the delivery room mirrored the first — meaning the couple had apparently cracked the code on keeping things light even during the most intense moments of childbirth.

'It was just so exciting because you just don't know what to prepare for,' Rocky noted about welcoming RZA, adding that subsequent births felt familiar rather than frightening. When asked to define fatherhood in his own words, Rocky leaned into the emotionally available angle without hesitation. 'Being emotionally present, emotionally available, receptive, still endearing, but not only that, loving,' he said, describing what matters most to him as a parent.

'That's easy. That's me all day. That's just me.' The delivery suggests he's fully embraced the role of devoted husband and father — a far cry from his earlier days when relationships were handled with considerably more discretion.

But here's where the story takes a hard turn into territory that no amount of cute labor anecdotes can smooth over. Rocky also addressed the terrifying March incident at their Beverly Hills home in which a woman fired more than 10 shots from an AR-15-like rifle while the couple and their three children were inside. 'It was f–ked up,' Rocky admitted, his usual swagger notably absent.

'Somebody attempted at [harming] me and my family. It took away a lot of peace and happiness of being able to just be free. I don't want to be robbed of my peace and joy.' The words reveal a man whose sense of security was shattered in an instant — regardless of how many jokes he cracks in the delivery room.

The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Ivanna Ortiz, initially tried to flee the scene before police apprehended her nearby. She pleaded not guilty to 10 charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three charges of shooting at an occupied dwelling — offenses that carry a potential life sentence if convicted. In May, Judge Shannon K.

Cooley ordered Ortiz to undergo a mental health evaluation after Deputy Public Defender Derek Dillman expressed serious doubts about her competency to stand trial. The legal proceedings are ongoing, but the underlying threat remains: someone targeted this family with lethal intent while their children slept in the next room.
