The Spin

America's major entertainment entities are coming together in unprecedented unity to celebrate the nation's 250th birthday. From Disney's coast-to-coast celebrations to network specials honoring American history and values, Hollywood is delivering a patriotic showcase worthy of the occasion.

Sources close to the situation say Trump's roster 'fell apart' spectacularly β€” multiple performers reportedly backed out amid controversy over the event's political framing. Now networks are positioning themselves as the REAL Fourth of July destination, and there's definitely some competitive energy there.

The Receipts

Trump's National Mall event is officially 'canceled' per Deadline's June 24 report. CBS's The Great American Block Party 250 promises what organizers call 'the largest fireworks show in history' over Washington, D.C. on July 4 (8-11 p.m., ET). Fox News anchors Bret Baier, Sean Hannity, Harris Faulkner, Brian Kilmeade and Dana Perino will host America 250: Celebrating Freedom from Liberty State Park in Jersey City.

The Last Byte

When your big Fourth of July party implodes before it even starts, maybe don't bet against Hollywood showing you up. The networks are treating this like a territorial dispute β€” whoever delivers the best celebration wins the narrative.

Well, well, well. How the mighty have stumbled. President Trump's much-hyped America 250 celebration on the National Mall?

Canceled. His roster of performers? According to Deadline's reporting on June 24, it "fell apart." That's not diplomatic language β€” that's a public execution dressed up as news.

And now that the President's grand vision has gone up in smoke faster than wet fireworks on a humid night, Hollywood is rushing in like vultures at a feast, each network and studio positioning itself as the REAL destination for America's 250th birthday blowout. Disney, never one to miss an opportunity for patriotic synergy, is pulling out all the stops across both coasts. Disneyland Resort has resurrected its Celebrate America! fireworks spectacular β€” gone but not forgotten since 2020 β€” along with flag retreat ceremonies honoring veterans, themed dΓ©cor on Main Street and Buena Vista Street, military band performances, and a cavalcade that would make even the most hardened bureaucrat misty-eyed.

Over at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Spaceship Earth will glow red, white, and blue while Voices of Liberty performs at EPCOT and the Electrical Water Pageant makes its patriotic rounds. They've even revamped Soarin' Across America into something called β€” wait for it β€” Soarin' Across America. Creative, Disney.

Very creative. But the real fireworks (literal and metaphorical) are happening on network television. ABC is airing "Disney Celebrates America: The Pursuit of Happiness" hosted by Deborah Roberts on June 29 at 8 p.m., followed by a massive 24-hour cross-platform broadcast starting July 3 led by David Muir that will span all 50 states across a dozen platforms including Disney+, Hulu, National Geographic, FX, Freeform, ESPN and ABC Owned Television Stations.

CBS isn't playing around either β€” Tony Dokoupil and Nischelle Turner are hosting "The Great American Block Party 250," a three-hour primetime broadcast featuring Zac Brown Band, Jon Batiste, Goo Goo Dolls and The War and Treaty, culminating in what organizers are calling the largest fireworks show in history over Washington, D.C. at 8-11 p.m. ET on July 4. Fox News Channel, meanwhile, is treating this like a war for ratings supremacy.

Bret Baier, Harris Faulkner, Sean Hannity, Brian Kilmeade and Dana Perino will host "America 250: Celebrating Freedom" from Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey β€” which just happens to be directly across the Hudson River from where Trump's celebration was supposed to happen. The broadcast runs 7-11 p.m. ET on July 4, with extended weekday editions of Fox & Friends (6-10 a.m.), America's Newsroom (10 a.m.-12 p.m.) and Outnumbered (12-2 p.m.) all emanating from the same location.

Rachel Campos-Duffy, Charlie Hurt and Griff Jenkins will anchor live coverage of what they're calling "the Salute to America: Grand Fireworks Show." Coincidence that Fox News is setting up shop directly opposite the canceled presidential event? Pull the other one. And because Hollywood apparently can't resist a good underdog story, there's also an America's Block Party concert at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on July 4 featuring Chris Stapleton and The Smashing Pumpkins, hosted by Queen Latifah.

Gates open at 3 p.m., show starts at 6 p.m. NBC and Telemundo are covering Sail4th 250's tall ships and naval vessels from 46 nations from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET.

Knott's Berry Farm is offering fireworks AND letting guests tour their full-scale replica of Independence Hall. ESPN has "America 250 Road Trips." National Geographic launched programming on June 16 to "explore the nation's stories." NewsNation has "Spirit of America" running through July 4. It's an embarrassment of patriotic riches β€” and every single network is betting big that their coverage will be THE one Americans tune into while the grill smokes and the kids run wild in the backyard.
